What's in a Name?
‘Lily Dean’ is a name that has been in my heart since my brother passed away in 2005.
Dean was an incredible man filled with enormous kindness, patience, endless love, joy and creativity. He found beauty and goodness within everyone he met and he had a laugh that grew from deep within his belly! We were very close growing up - best friends, really, and his untimely death was devastating.
Lily is a name that has resonated with me for as long as I can remember. Not only is it a beautiful and fragrant flower I cherish, it was to be the name of my daughter if I was ever blessed with a child.
Every day I miss my brother and I often wonder what my life would be like if I had children of my own.
While I may not have Lily or Dean in my life today, Lily Dean Mindful Beauty represents my deep love for them both.

About our Founder
For 19 years Leesa has worked in tough, male-dominated industries. From oil & gas in Calgary and Fort Mac in -40 degree weather, to the Navy facing strong winds & salty seas. When she transitioned back into civilian life she began working in the Victoria Shipyards on the Canadian Submarine refit program. She eventually made her way to North Vancouver to work on the National Shipbuilding Strategy building ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and the Department of National Defence (Royal Canadian Navy).
Exposure to the elements was a constant dilemma and stressor on Leesa’s skin. She has long understood that to have a healthy glow, you must first focus on your internal health. A solid foundation of nutrition, healthy & positive relationships, a spiritual practice, hydration and fitness are a part of her daily ritual and she wanted to find a skincare line that was simple, clean, rich and effective that was in alignment with her values.
Having tried many products that were heavily laden with chemicals that had no business being absorbed into her skin, she decided to work with Mother Nature (not against!) and took matters into her own hands.
In 2021, Leesa obtained her Diploma in Organic Skincare Formulation from the leading online teaching institution, Formula Botanica. She is nearing completion of her Advanced Diploma in Organic Cosmetic Science with her sights on completing a specialized certificate in Organic Anti-Ageing Skincare as well as Facial Masque Therapy.
She is an aspiring entrepreneur in the Green Indie Beauty world and loves formulating with the many wonderful ingredients that Mother Nature has to offer. Nowadays, if Leesa does experience a skin issue, it's simply from nibbling on a little too much chocolate :)
